Mooncakes Festival

Wishing I was in Asia now, with Mooncake festival in full swing ... meanwhile I can just drool over the pictures of it here.. I really need to move to a city one day. Look at these babies courtesy of http://www.mooncake.com.au/

Just look at the packaging, what an eye candy, a feast truly!

Growing up, my fav would have to be lotus paste mooncake. Yes, I am very ordinary, I don't like ones with yolks. Weird child, that is what I am. I like the 'common' mooncake ;) But I reckon I could probably grow to like these awesome flavours, I never knew they existed, getting poshy these mooncakes.. in my days, the most expensive ones are the ones with yolks. They were highly regarded.

I think too that in the East, when you gift someone with mooncakes, besides the packaging, you also want to give them the very best. So we always end up with so many varieties of the yolky mooncakes. Funny, I remember that I snubbed them all, nose up in the air! I was like ...."ewwwww, not another eggy ones.. can't we just get some common black lotus paste already?" My mum looked at me horrified and probably wished I was adopted or something.... Hahhahahhaha. That's me, real classy!

I just love the taste of lotus paste. Real yummy!
